CBI arrests insolvency professional for demanding bribe from Pune realtor

The Central Bureau of Investigation has arrested insolvency professional — Subrata Maity — and two private persons including proprietor of Mumbai-based firm in a bribery case of Rs. 2 lakh.

A case was registered on complaint against the insolvency professional and and two others on the allegations of demanding a bribe of Rs 20 lakh for settling the NCLT matter of the complainant’s company.

Complainant Pratapsingh Jagdale, who is promoter of Pune-based real estate firm Guardian Homes Private Ltd, had alleged that the accused demanded initial part payment of Rs 2 lakh, out of the total demand of Rs 20 lakh from the complainant and told him that a private person would come to collect the said amount at Pune.

CBI laid a trap and caught the said private person while accepting the initial part payment of Rs 2 Lakh from the complainant. Later, the Insolvency professional and the Proprietor/Jeweller of Mumbai whose alleged role came in the case were also caught.

The jeweller involved in the case is Ruchit Tanka, proprietor of RJ Jewellers, Kamothe, Navi Mumbai. Ashish Somani working for the jeweller has also been arrested.

Searches were conducted at the premises of the accused at Pune, Navi Mumbai which led to recovery of incriminating documents etc.

All the three arrested accused are being produced today in the Court of Special Judge, CBI Cases, Pune.
