IICA, NALSAR University start LLM in insolvency and bankruptcy law
The National Academy for Legal Studies and Research (NALSAR) in collaboration with Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA) is offering LLM in Insolvency and Bankruptcy Laws and Procedures law in India.
According to the brochure of the course, the need for the LLM in insolvency was felt due to huge shortage of bankruptcy professionals. As of March 2023, there were around 3000 insolvency professionals, but there is need for more given the number of insolvency cases are being filed every day. Besides, the brochure says that an insolvency professional needs at least 20 professionals to assist him or her in a big-ticket corporate insolvency resolution process or a liquidation process.
Brief about the course
Any one holding an LLB or any other law degree in India with a minimum 50% marks (45% for SC/ST/OBC/PWD) can apply for the course.
The selection for the LLM in Insolvency will be based on CLAT score and through an entrance exam. Half of the seats will be allotted based on CLAT 2023 score, and the rest will be selected through the entrance exam. The entrance exam will be an online MCQ test.
The batch size will be that of 60 students.
Total course fee will be Rs 14.17 lakh for the two-year course. The fee also includes the hostel charges.
The course will be divided into four semesters. Each semester will have four paper each.
The degree for LLM in Insolvency will be awarded by NALSAR University, Hyderabad in partnership with IICA. NALSAR University was established by an Act of the Andhra Pradesh State Legislature in 1998, which was subsequently amended in 2005 and 2010.
