Govt approves appointment of 18 members of NCLT

Given the concerns over vacant posts in National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), the appointments committee of the cabinet has approved the appointment of eight judicial members and 10 technical members. The appointments would be in the pay scale of Rs 67,000-79,000 for a period of five years from the date of assumption of charge of the post, or till attainment of 65 years of age, or until further order, whichever is the earliest.

Here is the list the members, whose appointment has been approved by the committee.

It is to be noted that the Finance Committee of the parliament recently in its report had expressed its concern over the fact that NCLT was functioning without a regular President, and was short of 34 members out of the sanctioned 62 members. The committee recommended appointment of all the vacant posts, as well as imparting better training to NCLT members.
